Murray Sinclair became Manitoba’s first Indigenous judge, serving with a steady, unflinching focus on fairness. But the bench was only the beginning. In 2009, he was appointed Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC)—a role that demanded equal parts legal rigor and human tenderness.

Over six years, he helped gather thousands of testimonies from Residential School Survivors, travelling across the country so voices could be heard where harm had happened.
